Cycling from Rum Point: A North Side Adventure
Cycling in Rum Point immediately immerses you in one of Grand Cayman’s most peaceful environments. From Rum Point Beach, you can cycle down the lush Rum Point Drive or the scenic Water Cay Road, both flat, paved roads. One of the highlights along this route is Starfish Point, where shallow waters are filled with starfish. Enjoy a relaxing stop by cooling off in the sea and admiring these stunning creatures. Then, you can return to Rum Point in time for a satisfying lunch or delicious cocktail! If you’re looking for more to enjoy on this corner of the island, read our Guide to a Relaxing Day at Rum Point.

Cayman Coastal Loop: Cycle the East End
If you’re looking for a longer, more adventurous cycle, you can’t go wrong with the Cayman Coastal Loop. Spanning approximately 19 miles or 30 kilometres, this route takes you from the top to the bottom of the East End of the island.
Following the island’s quieter eastern coastline, you’ll encounter some of the best attractions on the End End. Notable stops along this loop include Colliers Public Beach, a peaceful spot ideal for a swim or rest break, and the Wreck of the Ten Sails monument, which marks one of the most significant maritime events in Cayman’s history.
Further along towards the East End, you’ll encounter small local eateries, perfect for a short stop to refuel and admire the rugged coastline. The paved roads and minimal traffic make this an ideal self-guided route, but if you want to learn more about the sites as you go, you can join a guided tour with Eco Rides! Taking between just two and three hours, it’s the perfect way to spend the morning while leaving plenty of extra time for even more adventurous things to do in Grand Cayman.

West Bay Loop: A Classic Coastal Ride
On the western side of the island, the West Bay Loop offers a breathtaking and memorable cycling experience. This traffic-free route blends smooth coastal roads and beach trails, wrapping around Grand Cayman’s north-western tip. Along the way, you’ll encounter rocky shorelines, sandy coves, and scenic viewpoints perfect for photo stops.
Highlights include passing near Barkers National Park, where expansive beaches and open landscapes give the route a wild, natural feel. The loop’s accessibility and varied scenery make it ideal for a half-day ride, with plenty of opportunities to stop for refreshments or a swim before heading back!

Tips for Cycling in Grand Cayman
Grand Cayman’s terrain is largely flat, making it accessible to a wide range of cyclists. However, few roads actually have bike lanes. For this reason, we recommend sticking to the suggested routes, which are quieter than busy roads or can be explored with a guide. If you’re not sure how to reach the more secluded corners of the island, read our blog about Getting Around Grand Cayman.
While you may be eager to get pedalling, always remember to prioritise safety first and to wear a helmet. If you plan on cycling in the early morning or late afternoon, make sure to wear a reflective vest for visibility.
The island’s warm climate also makes hydration essential, especially on longer coastal routes like the Cayman Coastal loop. Put on sunscreen and consider wearing a swimming costume or bringing one with you in a backpack so you can enjoy a refreshing dip in the sea along your journey.
