Why is Grand Cayman Known for World-Class Scuba Diving?
Grand Cayman has earned an international reputation as a diving destination, thanks to crystal-clear waters with outstanding visibility, vibrant coral reefs, dramatic walls, famous shipwrecks, and abundant marine life.
Our island is part of the Cayman Islands’ Dive 365 initiative, which highlights dive sites that provide a different underwater experience for every day of the year. And the good news is that, as one of the world’s premier dive destinations, we have sites suitable for a range of experience levels.
The USS Kittiwake wreck is one of the best-known sites. The former US submarine rescue ship was sunk off Seven Mile Beach and has become an artificial reef supporting marine life. Our parent company, Red Sail Sports, offers both 1-tank and 2-tank dives to the Kittiwake as part of their range of scuba diving trips from Seven Mile Beach.
For visitors staying on the North Side or in the East End, diving is also an easy way to experience a different side of our island. As part of the Red Sail Sports family, you can book a thrilling 2-Tank AM North Wall Dive through us, as well as numerous East End dives with Tortuga Divers.

Why is Stingray City One of the Most Famous Grand Cayman Attractions?
Stingray City is another experience that belongs near the top of any list of Grand Cayman attractions. Located in the North Sound, Stingray City is a shallow, reef-protected sandbar where visitors can interact with wild southern stingrays. The sandbar has become famous for close encounters with these animals, including touching, petting, holding, and even kissing! The last of these comes with seven years of good luck, so don’t be shy.
Our boat excursions departing from Rum Point Dock include numerous trips to Stingray City, so you have plenty of flexibility when it comes to finding the perfect outing for you. And Rum Point Club is mere steps away from the dock itself, so you don’t need to worry about pre- or post-trip food and drinks!
If you’re staying on our island’s west side, Red Sail Sports also operates a range of Stingray City Grand Cayman tours from Safehaven Marina.
It’s important to experience Stingray City responsibly, so please always follow your guide’s instructions for the full duration of your adventure.

Why is Grand Cayman’s Seven Mile Beach So Famous?
Seven Mile Beach is arguably the most recognisable beach in Grand Cayman. Stretching north-south along our island’s western coast, it’s known for soft white sand, clear water, and easy access to restaurants, resorts, and watersports.
Despite its name, the beach is not actually seven miles long. But what matters most is the experience you’ll find here: it’s a beautiful stretch of coastline and one of the main reasons Grand Cayman is so popular with beach lovers.
Keep in mind that Seven Mile Beach is only one part of our island. Head towards the North Side and the East End, and the atmosphere changes. Places like Rum Point offer calm, shallow water, a more relaxed setting, and a truly authentic local experience.
That contrast is one reason visitors who have already seen our island’s famous western coastline often enjoy exploring further afield. For more inspiration, don’t miss our guide Hidden Gems in Grand Cayman for Returning Travelers.

Why is Grand Cayman Known for Its Food?
Grand Cayman has developed a reputation as a destination for food lovers, with dining ranging from local Caribbean flavors to international cuisine and more refined restaurants. As the largest and most-visited of the Cayman Islands, Grand Cayman is the diverse, cosmopolitan heart of our country’s food scene. Our blog about the most popular cuisines in Grand Cayman offers a tempting glimpse into what you can expect to find here.
For visitors, food is an important part of the Cayman experience. You can make a meal the destination in itself or combine dining with a day at the beach. Rum Point Club offers both options. The Rum Deck provides a relaxed beachfront setting for food and drinks, while Solis Restaurant offers a more refined dining experience.

Why is the Mudslide Associated with Grand Cayman?
One of the most unusual answers to the question, “What is Grand Cayman famous for?”, is a cocktail. The Mudslide is closely associated with Rum Point, where the drink was created in the 1980s. And it was a case of necessity being the mother of invention…
A customer asked a bartender for a White Russian. But because there wasn’t any heavy cream on hand, the bartender adapted the recipe, using Bailey’s Irish Cream instead. The result was a new concoction, the Mudslide, and a new chapter in Cayman history!
The Original Mudslide is still on our drinks menu today, so you can try one in the same place it was invented. You can also read the full story about this iconic drink in our blog The Mudslide: The Cocktail Born at Rum Point Club, then try one for yourself at The Rum Deck.

What is Cayman Carnival Batabano Known For?
Grand Cayman is not all beaches and watersports. Our annual calendar also provides plenty of opportunities to experience Caymanian culture.
Cayman Carnival Batabano is one of our island’s best-known celebrations. Held each May, the festival brings together music, costumes, dancing, and colorful street performances. The name Batabano refers to the tracks left in the sand by turtles when they come ashore to nest. You can find out even more about this incredible event in the Red Sail Sports guide to Cayman Carnival Batabano.
And Batabano is part of a wider calendar of cultural events across the Cayman Islands, alongside festivals such as the Cayman Cookout, Cayman Arts Festival, and Pirates Week.

Why is Grand Cayman’s Bioluminescent Bay So Special?
For something completely different, head to the North Side after dark. Grand Cayman’s Bioluminescent Bay is known for the natural phenomenon that causes microscopic organisms in the water to emit light when disturbed. The effect makes the water appear to glow as you move through it, although the conditions on the night will have a say in the visibility of the bioluminescence.
Because the bay is located on the North Side, it’s particularly convenient to combine a bioluminescence tour with time at Rum Point Club. We’re a stone’s throw away from the bay, making it an easy place to stop for food or drinks before or after your excursion. And best of all, Rum Point Dock is one of the departure points for Red Sail Sports’ Private Bioluminescence Bay Boat Charter!
If you’re planning your evening around this experience, our blog Where to Eat After a Bioluminescence Tour in Grand Cayman explains how Rum Point Club fits into the itinerary.

Why are the Cayman Crystal Caves One of Grand Cayman’s Top Natural Attractions?
The Cayman Crystal Caves offer another reason to explore beyond the beaches. Located on the North Side, a short drive from Rum Point Club, this system of caves takes visitors underground to see limestone formations with stunning natural features. They provide a very different experience from our island’s famous marine attractions and make a captivating addition to a North Side itinerary.
The entrance to the caves lies within a lush tropical forest, so you get to experience two remarkably different ecosystems in one trip.
Over a slow passage of time, single drops of water have created an otherworldly environment of stalagmites, stalactites, and crystal-clear pools. You can even see marine life fossils here, which indicate that, at one point in history, this area was underwater.
The Cayman Crystal Caves are also a reminder that there is plenty to discover inland. Grand Cayman may be surrounded by dazzling Caribbean water, but its landscape beneath the surface has a story to tell, too.
